Shakespeare's Birthday Celebration at The Dell

Join us at The Dell Forest Garden, Stratford-Upon-Avon for an afternoon of eco-activities accompanied by a live musical performance and poetry readings to celebrate Shakespeare’s birthday.

Grow your own veg - Join one of our activity stations to make plant pots out of recycled newspaper and plant vegetable seeds of your choice to take home and continue growing in your garden.

Bug hotel - Help us create a bug hotel to provide shelter for many different species of insects.

Wildlife watch - Learn about biodiversity by taking a tour around The Dell with one of our biodiversity checklists to see what birds, plants and insects you can spot.

Live music - Enjoy a live musical performance from talented local folk singer Luca Falcomer-Dawson.

Poetry readings - Listen to poems inspired by the memories of The Dell.

Ephemeral art - View outdoor art pieces with the ‘Room for the Soul’, created by artist Faye Claridge with help from our Green Therapy group.

Relax - Enjoy the calming space, sit on one of the picnic blankets provided and relax. Bring the whole family along for a picnic.

Volunteer opportunities - Talk to members of our team about our projects and find out how you could get involved.

Bees Needs 2017

Enjoy a fun & fast moving sponsored team treasure hunt race around Stratford upon Avon to discover parts to build homes for bees. Then build your bee hives and bee hotels - and the best ones win the prizes! Get a real buzz by raising sponsorship to help the Forest of Hearts create an apiary to teach people about the role and value of bees to our environment and well-being. Register your team now. At the end of the day relax, unwind and network in great company with a well deserved drink.

The bee hives will be sited at our Forest Garden in Warwickshire and managed by a team supported by the British Beekeepers Association’s local group. You can take home your own bee hotel!

Register below to save over 1 million bees. Fee for a team of 4-6 people to secure a team placeis £495 plus VAT. The Bees Needs Challenge is a charity fund raising event, each each team member to raise at least £100 for the Forest of Hearts charity.  As part of the fund raising process, each team Captain will need to set up a fund raising page on our dedicated Bees Knees Challenge Event page. 

 

Terms and Conditions for The Bees Needs Challenge 9th June  2017

The Bees Needs Challenge is a charity fund raising event, each each team member to raise at least £100 for the Forest of Hearts charity.  As part of the fund raising process, each team Captain will need to set up a fund raising page on our dedicated Bees Knees Challenge Event page. 

At the award ceremony (where trophies for the top three teams and winner's medals for the winning team will be presented), we will also let everyone know just how much was raised by all the teams and ... which teams raised the most!

Team Entry Fee: £495 per team+ vat.  Invoices to be paid by BACS within 10 days of issue. Once your online entry has been received we will acknowledge your registration by email to the email address you provided as part of the registration process. Your team entry in the festival will not be confirmed until payment has been received in full.

Fund Raising:  Each team member is to raise a minimum £50 in sponsorship for The Forest of Hearts.

Safety: Longden Ltd instructors will provide a safety brief for each team prior to the event. After the safety briefing, each team member at the briefing will be issued with a coloured wrist band. Only team members wearing wristbands will be allowed to take part in the Treasure Hunt.

Refunds: No refunds or reductions will be offered for teams competing or entering with less than the prescribed number. No refunds will be issued once a team entry has been accepted. If the festival or racing has to be cancelled due to circumstances outside the control of Longden Ltd no refunds will be issued.

Declaration of Fitness: – Team members are required to declare to the helm on the day if they are a weak swimmer, non-swimmer, or have a medical condition that might affect their safety or ability to carry out a Treasure Hunt. Such conditions might include but are not limited to: (a) They suffer from chest pains or shortness of breath (b) They have been told by their Doctor that they have heart trouble (c) They have been told that their blood pressure is too high or too low (d) They have had fainting or dizzy spells (e) They have undergone a recent operation (f) They suffer from bone or joint problems i.e. arthritis, spinal injury etc. (g) There is any other reason why they should not participate in an exercise programme. This list is not exhaustive. If team members are in any doubt about their fitness to compete, they must ask an instructor prior to undertaking the training and race programme.

Safety: All team members are required to partake in the team safety brief before the start of the event.  In the interests of safety a minimum age of sixteen years old is set for competitors

Withdrawals: Teams wishing to withdraw their team entry are required to inform Longden Ltd Ltd via email: carolelongden@longden.co.uk  using the email address they registered with. Team managers agree that they are liable for any relating invoices issued relating to their entry up until the date of receipt of their withdrawal request email.
