Partnership with Royal Shakespeare Company to create garden in Stratford-Upon-Avon
We are delighted to partner with the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) to create a garden at The Dell, Stratford-Upon-Avon. The Dell is situated on the banks of the River Avon in Avonbank Gardens, near Holy Trinity Church.
Whilst working creatively together, we aim to make The Dell a space that's welcoming and tranquil that brings local community groups together. Community groups will also be involved in the creation of the garden through planting and construction, as well as engaging in a series of workshops to produce ephemeral art pieces for the garden with artist Faye Claridge.
Our main focus will be to make the green space accessible, inclusive and enjoyable for all, to improve wellbeing and increase the biodiversity of the area by diversifying the range of habitats and vegetation structures at the site.
The garden will include 4 main areas; The Forest Garden, Wild Bank, Show Garden, and Living Walls (all including Shakespearian themes and using plants mentioned in William Shakespeare’s literature).
The garden will be created in time to celebrate Shakespeare’s birthday weekend and will be open to all on Saturday 23rd April (12-3.30pm) to view the enhanced space and enjoy refreshments and a live musical performance. Our volunteers will also be on hand to talk about the experience and how people can take part in future community projects with us.
